Job Overview
Uganda Christian University (UCU) is seeking a qualified and committed Lecturer in Highway or Transportation Engineering to contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, academic research, student supervision, and curriculum development.

Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
A Master’s degree in Highway Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related discipline from a recognised institution of higher learning.
A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Civil and Building Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or an equivalent engineering qualification from a recognised institution.
University teaching experience of at least two (2) years at the rank of Assistant Lecturer or three (3) years as a Tutorial Assistant.
At least one scholarly article or publication, or evidence of having undertaken at least one research project or research paper.
Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively, meet strict deadlines, teach effectively, and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate academic work.
Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
A proven record of conducting high-quality research, demonstrated through scholarly publications or other research outputs in Civil and Environmental Engineering.
A strong commitment to academic research, high-quality teaching, fostering a positive learning environment, and continuous professional development.
Must be a committed Christian.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to:
1. Teaching and Curriculum Development
Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in areas assigned by the Head of Department.
Contribute to the development, planning, and implementation of high-quality curricula in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Engineering, Field Engineering, and Highway Engineering.
Assist in developing learning materials, preparing course syllabuses, and maintaining records of students’ progress, achievement, and attendance.
Participate in developing, administering, and marking examinations and other assessments.
Supervise or assist in supervising undergraduate and postgraduate students.
2. Research and Publications
Conduct research and produce scholarly publications or other research outputs in line with agreed staff performance objectives.
Seek research funding from within and outside the University.
Participate in departmental and faculty seminars to share research findings and promote interdisciplinary collaboration.
Engage with wider scholarly and professional communities.
3. Student Support and Pastoral Care
Provide pastoral care and support to students in accordance with the UCU Code of Conduct.
Promote a positive learning environment that supports students’ academic development.
Integrate faith into teaching and learning in line with the University's policies.
4. Departmental and Institutional Responsibilities
Participate in the administration of departmental academic programmes and other activities as assigned.
Contribute to departmental, faculty, and University-wide working groups or committees when requested.
Follow and promote UCU policies, including quality assurance requirements.
Maintain and develop professional knowledge and skills through continuing professional development.
Perform any other official duties assigned by the supervisor.
