What you'll be stepping into
Key Purpose of the Role
The key purpose of this role is to safely operate and maintain defined Technical Services plants and related processes to achieve optimal plant and process effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
Plant and Process Operations
Operate packaging plant equipment and processes according to VPO standards.
Optimize plant and process performance where appropriate.
Safely operate equipment and machinery within packaging process areas.
Perform housekeeping activities and apply 5S principles.
Follow all required safe work practices and procedures.
Identify and correct unsafe work practices.
Support the creation, drafting, and documentation of standard work procedures, including quick-fix routines and problem-solving processes.
Quality Control and Analysis
Carry out required quality checks and analyses.
Accurately record quality and process results in the appropriate information systems.
Identify and address quality problems using appropriate problem-solving techniques, including 5 WHY and quick-fix routines.
Escalate identified or unresolved problems to the Line Manager.
Communication and Teamwork
Actively participate in meetings and PI reviews.
Understand team goals and participate in team goal review sessions.
Use relevant communication tools, such as shift logbooks, to stay informed and communicate plant and process issues.
Complete effective handovers to incoming shift team members, ensuring that important issues relating to plant performance and quality are communicated.
Complete assigned autonomous operations and problem-solving activities.
Requirements
Applicants should have:
A Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
Experience in the FMCG industry is an added advantage.
An understanding of VPO principles.
