About the Competition

The LensCulture Black & White Photography Awards celebrate monochrome photography in its many forms, from classic black-and-white images to contemporary digital and experimental work.

Photographers are encouraged to submit images that demonstrate strong visual storytelling, creative vision and technical skill. Submitted work must have been created within the previous 10 years.

A total of 33 photographers will receive recognition as award winners, jurors’ picks and finalists. In addition to cash prizes, selected photographers can benefit from exhibition opportunities, publication and promotion to LensCulture’s international photography audience.

Competition Categories

Applicants can enter one of two categories:

1. Series

This category is for photographers submitting a cohesive body of work containing up to 10 images. Entries are judged as a unified project, considering their thematic consistency, visual style and overall impact.

2. Single Image

This category recognises individual photographs that stand out through their artistic quality, originality, composition or storytelling.

Photographers should select the category that best represents the work they want to present.

Eligibility Requirements

To participate in the LensCulture Black & White Photography Awards 2026, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be at least 18 years old.

  • Be a professional or amateur photographer.

  • Submit photographs created within the last 10 years.

  • Be the sole creator and copyright owner of the submitted photographs.

  • Ensure the work meets the competition's black-and-white photography requirements.

  • Disclose any AI-assisted modifications in the project statement, explaining the methods used and the extent of the changes.

The competition accepts international entries. Purely AI-generated images are not accepted, although AI tools may be used to modify original photographs when the use is properly disclosed.

Photographers retain full copyright ownership of their submitted work.
